ABOUT/JaYr

 In the world of music, there are those that are connoisseurs and then there are those that create. It has been said that music opens the windows of heaven and lets us gaze in. Creating the melodies that transcends time and space, that link our memories to special occasions and that soothes our  mind and body. That is exactly what JaYr has been blessed with the ability to do. Cool but funky, hipp but smooth, and is always easy to listen to. His brand of music will vibrate through your veins and magically take you where you want to be. 

 

 Starting his music career like many in church,  And learning to read music in middle thru high school while playing trumpet, his self taught talent of playing the piano has led him to discover some of the great jazz innovators such as Joe Sample, Chick Corea, Herbie Hancock, George Duke, the great Oscar Peterson and his mentor Robert Newton, who taught him "The Jazz Game" and many more. He is currently residing in Charlotte, North Carolina and  is the musical director at Pleasant Hill Baptist Church. JaYr also produce's a TV program called " UP FRONT", which feature's artist across the country, on the Access 21 Channel in Charlotte, Every Thursday at 9:00 pm. 

 

 With Jazz music being his passion, he has been featured as the opening act for some of music's most respected artists such as Spyro Gyra, Pieces of a Dream, Ramsey Lewis, The Ohio Players, Jimmy Sommers, Stanley Turrentine, Pattie La Belle and The O'Jays. He is currently performing live at some of Charlotte's hottest Jazz establishments. His debut Smooth Jazz project (PlayIn' It Cool) is a mix of toe tapping funk and harmonious melodies that you will no doubt enjoy.
